FLIR stands for Forward Looking Infrared.
It is a phenomenally effective tool for dedicated (and well financed)
paranormal researchers, and has recently enjoyed nearly total acceptance
in the field, generally speaking.
Not for the low budget operation, systems built on this technology
are expensive. Purchasing a good unit (one that will deliver consistently
and not require constant maintenance) will set you or your team back a pretty
penny. But there is another route you can pursue, and that is rental.
There are numerous companies offering this option. I suggest
looking into it, which is simply a matter of doing an Internet search.
Plug in the acronym FLIR and you'll find quite a few sources for
renting on a weekly or monthly basis. It's still not pocket change,
but if you have a particularly juicy destination lined up and can round up
the cash, taking along a FLIR unit might just push your investigation into
a whole new realm.
